Starting in the Santo António mountains, along this route you will reach the top of three peaks that rise above 1700 meters in altitude: Pico do Cedro (1759), Curral Martinho (1785) and Pico do Areeiro (1818m).

During the first part of the route, the views over Curral das Freiras, the high areas of Funchal and the central mountainous massif are impressive. After a stop at Pico do Areeiro (3rd highest peak on the island – 1818m) there are a few steps up to the Ninho da Manta viewpoint which offers a panoramic view of Fajā da Nogueira and Penha de Águia.

After this stop we will return to Pico do Areeiro where the second part of the route begins, descending towards the Ecological Park, passing through Poço da Neve and ending at Pico Alto, which is located north of Funchal.

Important: Please note that this route is located at the highest points of the island where the temperature can fluctuate during the day and there is a possibility of fog, rain and wind.
The trail is sometimes uneven and slippery so we recommend wearing appropriate walking shoes.
